Research

I am currently working on my MS thesis research that will involve tropical watersheds and tropical aquatic ecosystems. In May 2008 a group from Marshall University traveled to Belize for a brief field research trip.  Next summer (2009), we will be returning for an extended trip. During this time, I will conduct my thesis research to develop a broad-scale watershed assessment protocol. For information about tropical ecology at Marshall, please click here. This lab, under the direction of Dr. Tom Jones, is very active in environmental assessment as well. Please visit Dr. Jones' website for more information.

In the summer of 2006, I was a field technician working under Zachary Loughman of the Schrader Environmental Education Center in Wheeling, WV. This grant-funded project was aimed at filling in gaps in the West Virginia herpetological survey. Teammates and I collected herps in Ohio and Marshall Counties, WV.  The project lasted from May until July.

My senior capstone project was entitled "Larval success of the spotted salamander (Ambystoma maculatum) at Beech Fork State Park, Wayne County, WV." This project allowed me to gain experience in field research techniques for herpetofauna.
