Something I came across today, on a sportbike forum of all places :)
Carved in Stone
Endless thoughts that have become my truth, As I search for wisdom in my youth. The golden rule reigns supreme, As the heart and core of my utopian dream.
I do not believe in an eye for an eye A tooth for a tooth or a lie for a lie. Hate in the world is already so ample, The means of an end is unearthed by example.
And I’ve been scarred as a result of my views Perceived as naive for the ways that I choose. I was not born unto the world this way that I am, I opened my eyes and began to give a damn.
Allude me it does, how some are so frigid Scaring good hearts, and leaving them livid. And they’ll be the first to say that you’re wrong, But there’s infinite contrast between tough and being strong
“If you can’t beat them join them” is so very cheap. And if a lemming I were, at night I’d not sleep, Because I want to live freely and die devoid of regret And remember an exchange of warmth from every soul that I’ve met
We all have a choice to steal, take or to give You too can take a stand and change the way we live. I suggest kindness but assume not the weight of the world, And with this I promise that in time, you will find, peace - internal.
Doctor said I could start working out again, so I resumed my weightlifting again last night in earnest. Barbell curls and "nosebreakers" (lying-down triceps extensions). The circuit is simple... 10 sets of 10, 30 seconds of rest between sets. Most experts suggest you follow a strict 60% of your 1RM (one repetition maximum), which in my case would be (no laughing!) 110lbs * .60 = ~66lbs. Nothing extreme until you realize I have to curl/extend that weight a total of 100 times (10 reps x 10 sets). Needless to say, I'm very, very sore. But that's a good thing. I'm steering away from any phosphagen for the time being (mostly because the flavor I have is terrible), but I am taking my vitamins... so we'll see how things go.
Most likely I'll be heading to the YMCA and signing up for a membership, and try to take advantage of the facilities there. I'm shooting for 180lbs with ~10% bodyfat. Guess fastfood is off the menu now :( Stay tuned...

Monday, February 03, 2003 :::
Ah its Monday. Again.
I'm sorta melancholy about life in general right now... to be perfectly honest I'm not depressed, but I'm far from happy. I'm hoping its just a severe case of cabin fever, but the jury's still out. I'm going to go do some skiing in the next couple of weeks, depending on how much fun I have I may take off and go again this month before March arrives with warmer weather, hopefully warm enough to get my bike out and do some canyon carving.
I have to order some parts for my ZX6, namely some engine covers that are scuffed up, some new spark plugs, and a K&N filtercharger (air filter)... not to mention a new windscreen from Zero Gravity and ummm some new comfy handgrips. And a new helmet. Yeah, I think that will set me up :)
Back to the grindstone I go... :(
