Its been a while since my last post, but with all that's going on in the world I've been distracted. Since my last post the United States has gone to war with Iraq... again. We have done so without the support of the UN (and some may argue the world community as well), we have alienated some of our long-time supporters in the process.
Sad but true.
As of this writing, our forces are within 50 miles of Baghdad. Sandstorms are slowing their advance on the city... thus far, rules of warfare as set forth in the Geneva Convention have been violated. Soldiers feigning surrender to bring our troops out of cover, only to open fire. Talk of chemical warfare looms on the horizon. Indeed there will be dark days ahead.
I sit here safe and secure, busying myself on a project for the company I work for. The absolute worst thing that can happen is that I encounter someone with a bad attitude today (with my co-workers, that's almost a given). Thousands of miles away... there are people locked in mortal combat, their lives at stake in a conflict that has divided our land. I support what our President is doing. I support our troops (and those of the Coalition as well). I hope the conflict ends soon, with as little bloodshed as possible.
