Johnny R. White
Artist Biography
Growing up in rural Appalachia as the son of a Baptist minister Johnny White's passion for art is only surpassed by his love of all things living and his curiosity about the natural order life, which is evident in most of the work he creates. The subject mater of Johnny's work is usually a mixture of surreal dream experiences with subtle religious overtones. Although he is disciplined in many different fine art mediums he considers himself to be first and foremost a sculptor. Johnny is currently finishing a BFA at Marshall University in Huntington, WV. He has exhibited his work at many locations locally both on and off campus in the city of Huntington. Currently he is working on a series of sculptures that express his views about death. The major medium in these pieces is taxidermy;
this allows the artist to depict the struggle between life and death in a very real and profound way. Johnny plans to continue this body of work until he completes his degree.
